Running a rent comparison

• The 44th London Marathon is taking place on Sunday 21st April. Around 50,000 people are expected to take part in the 26.2 mile trek around the capital.

• The elite men’s and women’s able-bodied and wheelchair races will each have a prize pot of £243,000 with the winners receiving £44k each.

• With the average London rent at £554 per week, each winner will receive the equivalent of 79 weeks' of London rent.

• Looking at various points along the Marathon route, starting in Greenwich, you'd get 74 weeks' rent. Moving through Limehouse, the prize pot equates to 68 weeks' rent.
