Summer solstice

Writer: Conrad BindingConrad Binding

  • The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year and is celebrated around the world. This year, in the northern hemisphere, it will fall on the 20th June at 21: 51 BST.

  • The longest day has 16 hours and 38 minutes of daylight, almost 9 hours longer than the shortest day of the year.

  • As the days have been getting longer and we enter the typically busiest time of year for the property market, the average time to sell has been getting shorter.

  • The average time to sell fell to 60 days in May, down from the highs of 78 days in January and the fourth consecutive monthly fall. Source: Dataloft by PriceHubble, Rightmove, MetOffice 2024
